Hi,
I have a 120 gallon tank and have a problem. My tank water always test fine. I have almost every piece of equipment you can buy installed. I have a: 120 gallon tank no or very low amonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphates. I have had two problems in my two years with the larger tank. PH never goes above 7.9 and the second is that large fish added to my tank frequently die. usually about 2 or 3 days after being added to the tank. Smaller fish are fine when added. A friend has recommended adding an airstone. Another friend says that airstones are bad in marine tanks. Can anyone straighten this out? Is an airstone recommended or safe? |

Ive never heard of an airstone being bad for a salt tank. period.
if you're buffering your tank, or doing your regular waterchanges and the PH is still not up to par then i have a 3 part suggestion. 1. Pull out a jar of water from the tank. Aerate over night, retest ph in the morning. 2. IF ph has gone up you need to look at creating more water turbulance to help rid the tank of co2. IF your Ph has not gone up, add buffer and repeat test. 3 IF it still hasnt gone up after adding buffer, buy a new test kit/probe calibration solution. -Rich "peobrien" wrote in message news:%6BYa.60650$cF.20742@rwcrnsc53...
