Default Mechanical Filter Media

Hello all,

I had planned on using a roll of waded up window screen as filter
media for my mechanical filter but when I went to purchase it, I
realized that it is vinyl coated fiberglass material. Google search
turns up conflicting results on the safety of using fiberglass window
screening. I can't imagine this stuff breaking up but then again it
wouldn't take much to hurt a delicate system. What are your thoughts?
