Could be a freshwater sponge, could be a Bryozoan. Hard to tell even with a
picture (can you post one somewhere?), you probably need an expert with a microscope. You can always ask someone in the Biology department at your nearest institution of higher learning, they are often quite helpful. But you can also try a Google search for "freshwater sponge" and freswater bryozoan", you'll find quite a few pages, many with pictures. Bryozoans and sponges are harmless and are generally an indication that the water quality is good with good oxygenation. Happy Ponding, Tim "WilsonKKW" wrote in message ...
