Hello All,

I have a Gold Fish pond that is about 2500 gallons. There are about 20 to

24
good sized (4 to 5 inches long) Gold Fish in it. The problem that I'm

having
this year is extreme algae. I have a home made filter that until this

year
did a pretty good job of keeping the water clear.

So I want to buy a commercial pond filter but don't know what to buy. Can
anyone give me some suggestions as to the type of filter that would be

best
for a fish pond as well as the size for 2500 gallons.

You could have a look at http://www.aquatics-online.co.uk in their
pond and pump sections for ideas. We've just ordered a Fishmate Bio
15000 and Kaldnes media to go in a 120l water tank. The water will go
through the Fishmate filter and into the tank with the Kaldnes media in
and then back to the pond via about 15 feet of 'burbling brook' with a
drop of 18 inches. We have a Tetra OFX11000 pump in the pond to drive
these.

I know you're not in the UK but the site has links to information and
sometimes manufacturers and is a reasonable place to start your
investigations.

Is it water born algae or blanket weed? Adding potash (60% soluble)
will let your plants take up the nutrients and starve the algae.
