I agree, Cap. Now, of course, if any alga gets out of hand, it can spell
trouble. But, in general, I like to have a little greenery (or reddery as
the case may be) in my tank. Gives the Sailfin something to munch on all
day.
I had some of that Halimenia when my tank was very young. I REALLY like the
look of it and wish it would come back!

Oh, the red stuff! Yup, red algae (I don't think there is a red
Halimeda, is there?). Kinda looks like Ulva to me (again red Ulva?). I
was referring to the anemone like thing that is spreading like wildfire
with tentacles and all the original poster described. Definitely
Anemone majano.

When it infesting like crazy, then the only way to remove it is to pull it
out with aquaGlove. Scrape anyting that may be still hangin there. Use
boiling water and shoot it first. Again, use boiling VERY HOT water to cook
it at that spot. Siphon it out or manually remove completely out. Use
Boiling Hot Water again to make sure nothing survive there.

You can also also try to sterlize that spot by using Ice water and Boiling
water at that same spot and siphon anything out from that area.

BTW, becarefull of it surrounding area if there any critter you do not want
to kill.

Or ask Boomer the "Former US Army Bomb Technician (EOD) Member; IABTI,
NATEODA, WEODF, ISEE". For some receipe on how to bomb that anemone to
anemone heaven. Or sweep up a chemistry forumla to safely poison it.
Heehee.....
