Default What type of lighting should I look for?

I recently am starting to setup my first Sal****er tank.

It is 38gal. I am planning for some small fish.

I am also looking at some live rock, small creatures or something.

I currently have the standard light from my freshwater tank.

The hood is 35" long
With a standard 24" bulb

Can this hood be upgraded?
Should I just purchase another hood with high output?

What should I be looking for?

thanks
