Hi all, first of all i would like to wish everyone has a Happy New Year.
Upon inspecting my tanks and rocks today, i noticed 1 stem of my Candycane coral is not opening and when i checked behind it, i noticed something was growning behind it. the body looks like a white snail body ( with a red flower that opens up at the end ), it's tiny, about 3 mm in size. I am sure it's one of the common disease or worm but don't know whether it's harmful, how to treat it or don't even know what it's called so i don't know what to research on the internet. if one of you out there can identify and tell me what it is, i will be very much appreciated. i took a picture with my digital camera but doesn't focus well and i am not sure whether i can post pic in this newsgroup. so if you want to look at the pic, i can send it to you. thx in advance for any help. |

Is it a small white calcerous tube, hard to the touch? The
red flower is like a tiny featherduster? If so, it is a harmless filter feeder. Here is another kind. Realize, this is a tiny dot, but with macro photography it looks big. For a point of reference, this dot was on the outside of a test tube and you even see the edges of the tube. Yes, it is *that* small. http://melevsreef.com/id/spirorbid_worms.html Marc Nighthawk wrote: Hi all, first of all i would like to wish everyone has a Happy New Year. Yes that sounds and looks exactly like you have described and in the
picture. Except some of them are not spiral ( especially those that attach to the rocks ), the are a bit bigger ( about 1/8th of an inch long ) and straight. but do definitely match your description. thx again for the help, marc.
