Hi all,
Just finished reading Marine Reef Aquarium Handbook by Dr. Robert J. Goldstein, in which he mentioned on the lighting section that MH are only good for the first 4 to 6 hours, and that after that, they generate heat and that VHO is the way to go. My tank is about 1 1/2 years old, with a 175 W MH pendant, and I've had no problems with heat or any other matter, except when I allowed the first bulb to get old--this caused my bubble coral to shrivel up, and today continues that way, and a hawaiian feather duster that I lost also. Can anyone offer their opinion on the matter. TIA, Richard -- "..A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti..." So just ask yourself -- Which should you be listening to? Dr Goldstein who knows nothing about your tank, or your corals? jc |

Hi Jimmy and thanks.
I guess you are right. But I'm worried of the long term effects ( than 2 or 3 years.) Plus, could it me that I have not yet introduced a coral that may be harmed by this type of Lux?
