I have a 100 gallon fish tank that has been setup for many years. It
houses a few japanese koi and a plecto algae eater. Although we have never had an algae problem before, for some reason, the tank is now covered in algae. We tried cleaning the tank, replacing the charcoal filter in the Fluval and the algae quickly reappeared. We have not changed anything... same number of fish, same food, same location, same filter, .... Any ideas why we have a sudden algae problem and any idea how to resolve? |

Once they reach a certain size, many of them will cease to eat algae. As an aside, charcoal filtration will not have any affect on algae growth. Activated carbon, as it's more commonly called, can remove discolorations, medications, and a small number of toxins from the water. Post a little more info on your tank, such as lighting and water parameters, and we'll help you take this apart. g billy |
