![]() "Peter Pan" wrote in message ... I have a few questions about my tank which I set up last week. I have 75 Gal tank, 50 lbs live rock 3 - 4 inch sand bed with partial live sand. I have 2 power heads and a skimmer When I added everything together, the water got real cloudy, adn was unable to position the LR the way i wanted it. now a week later I beginning to see through the water and I've noticed, sand has settled onto the LR. My question is this: Is there a simple yet effective way to clean the LR of the sand on top of it without clouding up the tank again? Or is it not matter what I do, the tank will get cloudy when I begin to move things around. Thanks for the help Yep! Your tank is going to get cloudy every time you move something. I am in the same boat as you and from what I have read, this is completely normal. The first few times you do it, it will be very cloudy. But every time you do it, the duration and severity will be less. HTH ~Mort |

as bacteria start to colonize in your tank the sand storms will stop all
together. kc "Peter Pan" wrote in message ... I have a few questions about my tank which I set up last week. I have 75 Gal tank, 50 lbs live rock 3 - 4 inch sand bed with partial live sand. Usually you add the water without introducing any rocks and let the sand
set for a day or two. Since you already put everything in it I can't figure a way. I guess you'll have to shake everything with your hands and leave it alone for a couple of days with the pumps running. Don't desperate. Trying to rush things out is the worst you can do to establish a new tank. Take your time, don't skip procedures and good luck. Ruggie PS: Another thing you can do is rinse the rocks wrap them in newspaper and keep them wet for a day, no more than two days until the cloud goes down. Then when the water is clear again re-introduce them in the tank. |
