Default White Growth Within Tank

I have green algae growing on a synthetic log that has been in my tank for
about three years. Recently, I have noticed a white growth that grows over
the algae. Can anyone point me in the right direction for steps on
identifying this growth, and whether or not it is harmful?

Thanks -
