Default Groupers and Reef Aquariums

Is it safe to have a grouper in a reef aquarium? My plan is to move my 3'
grouper from my 400 to my 680 reef in order to convert the 400 to a storage
facility for clam propagation.

What kind of grouper? How big is it? If you're planning to place it in a
reef keep in mind it will eat small crustaceans and shrimps!
