Default LR and LS Cycle question from a newbie...

Hi all,

I have a 29gal tank fishless cycling with LR and LS for a week now.
The 20lbs of LR I got from the dealer are from an old tank thus
Coraline algae (the purple algae) already established therefore I
don't know if the cycle timeline on my tank will remain the same, 4
Weeks or more is what my LFS suggested.

Three days ago my reading from the SeaChem reef basic kit is:
PH = 8.2-8.4
Ammonia = 0.3
Nitrite = 0.1-0.5
Nitrate = 1-2

Yesterday
PH = 8.2-8.4
Ammonia = 0.0
Nitrite = 0.0-0.1
Nitrate = 0.2-1

Today
PH = 8.2-8.4
Ammonia = 0.0
Nitrite = 0.0
Nitrate = 0.2-1

The question is "Is my tank cycled?" or do I expect to have some
ammonia spike in the next few days.

Thanks in advance,
ND

How was the rock transported? How long was it out of water? Did it dry?

I had them under a thick wet newspaper in a container with 2/3 of the
rocks under water. Yesterday, I saw a bunch of critters coming out. I
don't know what they are though. Is this a good sign?

The readings indicate that the cycle is complete. That is pretty much how my
last tank went. That is the advantage of buying LR from your LFS, they may
not be the cheapest but the rock seems to be well cured on average.

As long as you can find a breeding pair, you should be fine. Two, that are
not paired will be a problem in a smallish tank.
