Howdy everyone!
I've had numerous freshwater tanks before and I'm getting ready to try a sal****er setup (probably fish only) for the first time. What general recommendations can anyone give me? I want a good size tank (anywhere between 55 and 180 gallon). What's the best filter system to use? Anyone had a do-it-yourself wet/dry system? Is it worth my time? How about live rock, crushed coral, etc? Is there an all inclusive list somewhere that details everything I will need? Thanks, Andy |

Read as much as possible about marine setups. Above all DO NOT RUSH!! Take it slowly because i don't think your tank will cycle in under 90 days no matter what your tests say. Sign up at www.reefcentral.com as well. As Said, SLOW!!!! Start out slow, then slow down. g My one bit of advice I give those getting into reef tanks, DO NOT SKIMP ON THE SKIMMER!!! Get the best skimmer you can, you will not regret it. Seaclones, Prizms, anything with an airstone to drive it, they're crap, in my experience. Not good for much more than a smallish FO (fish only) tank. billy |
