My calcium reactor has finally bit the dust and ma looking for a replacement. It
was an Aqua Medic and was about 10 yrs. old. Motor quit. I haven't been keeping
up with what is currently on the market, so any recommendations would be
appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Why not just replace the pump?

The pump is integral with the top cover. I can, and have, removed it for
cleaning occasionally, but it's not like a power head or such. I've checked the
Aqua Medic website and the newer models show some fundimental design changes
from my old CR, so I doubt, because of it's age, if a new assembly could be
ordered. That, plus, other parts are showing significant wear and tear. A new
unit is called for and I'm trying to see if any other types are worth looking
at. I mean I've gotten 10 years out of this one, so I 've got nothing to
complain about there, but if there are more efficient units available I'd like
to consider them before deciding. It's a little difficult to judge solely on
advertising hyperbole.
