I've heard that the green eheim vinyl tubing won't encourage as much algae
growth in the tubing as the standard vinyl tubing. Any truth to that? Going from a tank to a sump, I mean. Thanks. Steve |

Idea behind green tubing is that it pass only green light algae cannot use so effectively as other color rays... This applies mostly to green algae. Other colors will grow. But no need to be transparent - use black vinyl... |

Well it collects less algae but i wouldnt say none, if i pinch the temporary
green eheim tubing i have on my tank then i get algae come out the other end. The best is a hard pipe system. You have to vut and glue everything but its excellent.. and (hopefully) doesnt leak. Even hard tube is not fre of getting algae buildup. I used black ABS
to plumb manifolds and exposed hard lines on my ponds plumbing, and it gets just as much algae buildup as the white or clear stuff does.......I routinely fush a solution of PP through it all, and allow it to set for a bit, then flush it with pond water to keep it clearer.......probbaly not a doable thing in an aqauarium setup, but if I did not flush and clean mine with PP it would be blocked solid in o time.
