Default New aquarium!!! :) losing fish! .. :(

whats your water parameters? ie: nitrite, ammonia, nitrate, ph ect...
id also put goldy back in the 33.. goldfish excrete alot of ammonia and most
tropicals cant handle that, not to mention goldfish have different dietary
needs and they do better at colder temps then tropicals. this way you can
have 2 tanks and u can probably get another goldfish for your goldfish. ive
always like black moors, have you ever seen a shubunkin? they look cool

but um we could help more if we knew your water parameters. its possible
you added too many fish too soon and you overloaded your bioload.

Hey everyone!.. im a frequent reader of these wonderful groups, but i

don't
post messages to often, but I do now have a couple of questions I someone

on
here can help me with!..
But first of let me share my happiness with everyone and brag about my new
aquarium!!!! which is the biggest one i have had so far.. and i bought
it all on my own!
I just got my own apartment with my girlfriend, her priorty was to get the
big TV moved in, and stereo and furniture... pfff.. well forget all that,

I
can't be comfortable till my aquarium is set up! Im not truely alive!

untill
i have my fishies with me!..
however, we have a nice big room to fill and my old 33gal just wasn't

doing
the trick!... so, i just had to get the 90 gal!.. I ALMOST!!!.. was so
close to goin with a 135... but ... the 90 will do for now i guess till i
can afford an 1000 or more!

ANYWAY!... here is my first question/problem!..

I just set this puppy up, and let it cycle for about 3-4 weeks without

fish,
and for the first, approx 2 weeks i was setting it up with sand as

substrate
and live plants...

when it was originally setup it just had a Penquin emperor as a filter but
later added a Fluval 4+
so i think it is filtered quite well...
I have the 4+ at full throttle and have it pumping out air as much as it

can
into the water..

anyway, after it was done cycling, the first goup of fish that were
introduced were from my 20 gal. and they were as follows..
approx. 7-9 guppies (feeders that i rescued last year)
2 Glowlight tetra
1 Goldfish (i won from a fair!! and he lives!!

So they were in there all hunky dory just loving the new space!..

Then i admit, i went alittle hogwild.. and this is what i had in there

when
i was completely done!..

approx 20+ little neon tetra
12+ Black neon tetra
8+ Glowlight tetra
4 Strawberry(2) & Blueberry(2) tetra
2 Pearl danio
5 white cloud mountain minnow
9-11 guppy, got 2 fancy males!
1 small Angel fish
5 Corry cats (3 diff kinds)
1 Goldfish (i can't believe how healthy he is! i mean,

from
a fair!!
12 Ghost shrimp
12 small Silver Dollars
1 Black shark ( my fav!

Ok, its a tad overstocked... or was!..

but i have lost numerous fish to i don't know what!...
It seems to mostly be the Tetra im losting for the most part..

i have 4 glowlights left, 6 neons, 1 black neon, 3 Cory cats.. 8 Silver
dollars, most of the guppies seem to be there, only lost one mountain
minnow.. but besides that all seems well,

now the only thing i have seen is something that looks, alittle like ich..
but i have never had it before so im not to sure.. i thought it was on a
couple of fish but its barely noticable...

could it have been ich that took out the others? besides that im lost

on
this..
sorry for blabbing on so much! but if anyone has any ideas ..

thanks
a million!!!

say hi to all your fishies out there for me!

First of all can I just say that a goldfish really shouldn't be kept in a
tank with those tropicals! Goldfish have completely different needs, both
nutritional and physical and he/she must be so stressed living with all
those fast moving tropicals. Please think about getting him his own tank. A
goldfish alone should have 10 gallons all to himself so I expect you were
overstocked.
Secondly, have you actually tested your water with a test kit?(ammonia,
nitrites, nitrates and PH). if not then how do you know your tank is cycled?
Water quality could well be an issue here with all those fish and a goldie
so please buy a test kit a.s.a.p and test you parameters. Ammonia should be
at 0, nitrite at 0 and nitrates under 20.
Thirdly, have you actually had dead bodies or have the fish vanished? If so
then it is possible that your goldfish or angel fish ate your tetras. You
say that your angel fish is small, but they are cichlids and will eat other
fish if they can.
As for ich, this presents itself as small white spots which look like
scatterings of salt or sugar and is usually caused by stress. Please post a
better description and we can try to help with it.
Mel.
