Default Fresh Water Game Fish

i had a similar setup to what you're describing about 10 yrs ago
caught all the fish locally
had bass, brim, pike, catfish, eel, shrimp, crayfish, several types of
minnows & a snapping turtle
no fancy filters, just a simple hang on
no coolers/heaters, i live in NC & room temp was in the 70's
some of the critters ate fish food
the bass would only eat live minnows
i'd hold a minnow over the water & he'd jump up & take it out of my
hand
way cool fish
catching a pike w/ a net is a bitch
they're fast fish
i found the best way to catch my fish was to take a .22 pistol
& shoot the water next to the fish
the shock wave would knock the fish out
it would wake back up in several minutes
(no flames please, i know i far from a perfect human)
i sold this set up when i left home for college

i'm setting up another tank now
& have considered doing the same thing
but not sure that i have the free time to catch all the fish again
took ~6 months last time to get 1 of each of the local varieties

anyone know of a supply shop the sells game fish
i found a couple of local hatcheries, but they all carry the limited
variety of
bass, brim, catfish

yup )
... these abbreviations slip in when I'm not paying attention

If you are not planning on using a canister in conjunction (or some other
strong biological filter), then I'd consider bio-wheel equipped
powerfilters as an option, but I think your costs would increase
somewhat.
