How big What temp Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate pH filters, air stones, etc... -Donald "When you've lost your ability to laugh, you've lost your ability to think straight." -To Inherit the Wind |

Does he also look skinny? I'm concerned he may not have got enough food in
your tank, this happened to my Pleco. He kept my aquarium so free of algae, I then supplemented with algae wafers probably too late and I think he died of starvation. ![]() "sky.watcher" wrote in message .. . Hi all, I got home from work last night to find my Royal Pleco on the bottom of the aquarium with his head seemingly shoved tightly between a rock and some driftwood. I thought at the time that he had somehow been accidentally lodged there and died but when I moved the wood he swam a short distance and once again stuck his head tightly under another piece of wood. I though he would surely be dead by this morning but again when I moved the wood he swam in a very strange circle kind of on his side and went right back to where he was. I am quite certain that I am about to lose this wonderful fish and as he was a gift from my Fiancé I do not wish to lose him. If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance. |

The Pleco does eat the available algae in the tank but I also feed Spirolina
disks and lettuce so I don't think he's starving. I think he's just a sick fish but I can't for the life of me think what he may be sick from. As I said before, this fish was bought for me by my fiancé and he didn't come cheap either. I don't see to many Royals for sale in my neck of the woods so I imagine he will be difficult to replace if I lose him. Thanks for your advice and any more you may have would be appreciated.
