Better looks and design than most forums, no Ad's or popups, I'm not
making you join, I'm giving you the option to visit and check it out,
if you like it then join. I also seen a couple larger forums that get
so large they have to turn options off during peak times (mostly the
search option). It's a growing hobby with more and more people joining
forums every day, I myself belonged to a couple different forums and
they all have their advantages and disadvantages.

Just by your reply here alone I can tell that http://coszam.net/forum
wouldn't mind having you along for the ride.

Are you interested in looks or the content when you join the forum ?

no Ad's or popups,

How do you plan on supporting the cost of keeping it in operation
when your forum starts to grow ?

I know you are not making me join... :-)
I was just not sure if I just could not find something unique about
your forum, or it was just not there when I checked it out...
Then I decided to ask the owner to be sure :-)

That is mostly because they did not have a good plan for
growing and supporting the forum in financial/technical way.
Too slow computers, too low connection speeds, not enough
ads collecting money for the system support, etc :-)

It's a growing hobby with more and more people joining
forums every day, I myself belonged to a couple different

Sure, but the power of the forum is to have many people
who can help you when you need help or just to share
opinions in a larger crowd. Creating new forum instead of
joining an existing one could be reasonable if you are missing
something important in existing forums... and you can offer
this new, unique feature missing in other forums on your forum.
Creating just another forum being just the same like dozen
others is just devoid of the purpose, but it is just me :-)

Just by your reply here alone I can tell that http://coszam.net/forum

An active participation in a single forum takes time and effort.
The time is the only thing we have and the only thing we cannot
buy back when we loose it. All we do in our lives is to use our time
effectivelly and to sell our time to others with the biggest efficiency.
If I spend my time writing my opinion or helping someone in
his problems I would prefer doing it on the forum with thousands
of members who could benefit from my time than on the forum
with two members... The same thing applies to asking for help...
If I spend time asking for help on some forums, I am interested
in writing to a forum with the most chance of getting help...

My advice would be - join existing forum making it bigger and better
instead of creating yet another small one with poor content.
Concentrate knowledge about aquariums, instead of diluting it...

Both, the content is first and formost, but looks and ease of use are
important too.

I think i'm a long way off from that, but the server i use i pretty
much have unlimited resourses.

I understand that, but even the biggest forum started with one member
as far a unique goes, that is why a category was added to ask for
ideas and request of addons.

I agree 100%, but the one other large forum that i am a member with
has gotten so big that i see MOD's banning people for the smallest
infractions and they give off an attitude that they are god any don't
care what you think. they lock threads for no reason, and change
members post to suit them, this has never happen to me but i seen it
countless times, they even asked a expert who had his own board within
the forum to leave after a member had a disagreement with him without
the MOD's finding out what really happen, it made alot of members
very upset that the expert was made to leave.
we do jump from forum to forum to get the best of each forum and want
to incorpersate that into ours over time.

you also ask on a follow up post why i had 2500 post, that is not me,
i am Comatose on the forum, Coszam is a close friend that i'm helping
with the forum. i am in charge of making people aware of the site and
getting people to join.

hmmm, you talking about Reef Central?

That's the nice thing about this newsgroup. Don't have to
worry about stupid Mods that are too quick to close
threads. We just verbaly correct each other.
