whats the ammonia level and nitrite level? is the tank newly set up? how
big are the discus and how big were the rams? you could have overstocked, or
perhaps the discus killed em.

Last Saturday I bought 8 Rams (Apistogramma ramirezi), they were all
introduced to a 30 gallon planted tank, which was till the occupied by two
Discus which were happy in it.
The tank has a PH of 7.2 and water are medium to hard. Temperature of

about
29-30 C.
They looked very good at the first two days and you could see the males
starting to be a bit rough on each other and the fist looked pretty
colorful.
As from Monday they start dying on me!!! 7 dead (last one today) and there
is only one left......
I have no idea what went wrong.
Please HELP.

What happened to the discus? Did they die? was the tank cleaned or
treated in any way?

Introducing a number of fish might have been a struggle on the filter,
so it might have not coped with the increased load. Test for ammonia
and nitrite just in case?

Do they have any symptoms before they die? In this hot weather
(although I dont know where you are or whether you've got a heatwave
too my fish have struggled. This year isn't too bad but a couple
of years ago when the tank was at 30C for a few days running, they
were obviously having problems breathing etc. You said your tank is
at 29-30C, from what I've read rams prefer a few degrees lower.
Not to say that the temperature alone will have killed them but it
might have contributed if there were other issues.

If they were direct from the store, check what water parameters
they were used to there? Or go back to see whether the rest of
the store's rams look sick?

Obviously I don't know what killed your rams but I hope these
are some useful pointers.

Sorry for your loss Hopefully you can find and fix the
problem so next time you have more luck.

I would suggest you read up at The Krib on Apisto's in general. Find a
good article about new fish acclimation.....the drip method or
whatever...and get a TDS/conductivity meter and use it a lot. Look up
Osmotic Shock, which is probably what occurred somewhere........to the
fish....

Oh the ammonia level and nitrite level are ok.... The discus were

removed
to another tank just as I brought in the Rams.
Surprisingly I've found 2 that look ok this morning.... the rams are

about
1.5 Inch long.
