In Ottawa, Canada. Email me for directions if you'll be in the
neighborhood. I don't advertise the store's name publicly because in the
newsgroup, I represent myself. I wouldn't mind representing the store, -
it's a well run operation with proper morals concerning animal welfare,
but they don't pay me enough to be a spokesman ;~).

In any case, as it's been pointed out many times, the quality of an LFS
can be as fleeting as the manager of the day and whether there is good
upper management to support him/her,- so the store name becomes less
important sometimes.

I've had a few visitors from the ng (they don't always introduce
themselves ;o), and they usually leave with less 'conventional'
purchases. Some of the offbeat stuff I carry (for this neck of the
woods) is Otos, female Bettas & female Dwarf Gouramis, Croaking Gouramis,
Featherfin Rainbows, Amano shrimp, Apistogramma Nissensie & Cacatoides,
and then there is my snail collection (Apples, Mysteries, Ramshorns and
African Dwarf Striped) - and on the plant side, Madagasgar Lace, Anubius,
Striped vallisneria, Echinodorous tennelus & sublata and I have this new
Nymphoides sp. (a banana plant with no bananas) whose leaves are typical
shape, but very prolific like a Pennywort. I'm getting carried
away.... oops

......NetMax speaking of offbeat stuff, do you ever get ahold of Yamato
shrimp? The first freshwater shrimp that I had ever seen at my LFS of choice
carried them, so I snagged on of coarse, and he's been doing well for a few
months now (except for snagging two leapard danios due to not getting enough
food himself Im guessing) anyway I was wondering if these are in fact "rare"
to find inland as Ive been told lately, plus I should mention that I havent
seen them since that faithfull day.-Brian

I just placed an order for them, so I'll find out at the end of the month
(if they come in and what they look like).

BTW, I expect the Yamato shrimp that they ship, will actually be Amano
shrimp, but when dealing with foreign countries, I've had both pleasant
and unpleasant surprises. I order SAEs by their true latin name and I
still get everything but, so when I'm opening these boxes from around the
world, there is always an element of surprise.

...NetMax from what I understand Yamato Shrimp (Yamato Numa Ebi) is commonly
reffered to as the Amano Shrimp. This is due to the man (Takashi Amano) who
first introduced them to the aquarium market, so if you end up getting
Amano's then youve ended up getting Yamato's.. Here's the Krib link that I
retrieved that info from: http://www.thekrib.com/Fish/Shrimp/
cheers,-Brian
