I am looking to replace my twin tube set as economical as I can. I found

About average price-wise. But barely adequate light output for a well
planted tank, unless you stick with low light species. You can find
some excellent values in compact fluorescent fixtures at

http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp

Most of their fixtures come with 50/50 bulbs, but they may be
10,000K/Actinic - they're pretty obliging through email if you would
prefer they switched the bulbs for 6500 or 6500/10000. I've not found
anywhere on the net that comes close to their prices. Their shipping
is high, but so is everyone's these days.

FYI, if you have a Petsmart in your area and they have the lights, they'll
price-match their online price if you bring in a printout showing the
product and price for it. Their online price is always cheaper then their
instore price to account for shipping. I work for Petsmart and we do this
all the time.

Before purchasing, check out these prices on compact fluorescents and
HO fluorescents.

I have a smallish tank (29g) with 2 25 W fluorescent tubes (I know I
should add more wattage) to rule the day and some blue LEDs to rule the
night. I buy replacement tubes from the hardware store, saving 50% over
going to a pet store.

Laie
