Default 96-98 GVT

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a 96-98 ish Alfa GTV in the coming months and wondered if
anyone could offer advice as to which model to go for. I have heard the 2.0
TS I underpowered, but guess it will be fine compared to my 1.4 Polo. I did
own a 156 1.6TS afew years ago and that was very slow but not sure how it
would compare. Is the 3.0 very greedy on petrol?

Any advice on what to look out for etc would be great. I am in the UK and
hope to spend no more than around £6k.

Thanks
Steve

I think that in GB there isn't the 2.0 V6 12V Turbo engine...that's a nice
engine for the GTV, 205bhp and not so thirsty like the 3.0.

But the 3.0 GOES so well! I recently got to drive one that was sneaked
into the US from Italy via Mexico. Sweet!

Hi Jacopo!

2.0 V6 TB are all 12v units, and all LHD, imported into UK from Europe. They
are very good value but just as thirsty as the 3.0 24 V6. Both should do
around 28mpg.
The TB can be easily tuned to 250hp with a simple chip ( www.squadra.com and
others). The 3.0V6 is 218/220hp as standard, but is easy to get 240hp. And
the sound is glorious.

The owner experience is also superb, mainly due to www.gtvv6.com . Loads of
enthusiasts and lots of experience for the 2.0 TS, 3.0 V6 and 2.0 TB.

From Italy via Mexico? Wow he must really love driving :-)
Surely the 3.0 is a big deal. But my "first love" was a 2.0 V6 12V Turbo...
:-)

Hi George! Did you receive my e-mail, Sat. 13th?

I had a brilliant 3 years with a V6 TB that I imported from France,
but I never managed to get much more than 26mpg. the left hand drive
cars offer great value compared to the 2.0 TS

saw one on offer at less than 5k at
http://www.alfalink-cars.com/gt_gtv.html
I was very tempted to follow it up but I do too many miles and now I
have a little person to worroy about too!
