Default update clowns and more

the clown loaches are doing good, they have been almost bouncing off my
pl*co's head, they are driving him nuts, they wont stay out of his space,
and there is enough space to go around.....
the rest of the fish seem to not want to get to close to them either, but
they are quite funny.
Angels seem to be happy, hanging out together with the big gourami
I feed twice yesterday once flakes and the other time bloodworms so as all
the new fish had a choice, this morning I gave them some BS, they all seemed
to like that.
so all is well.
I got a betta the other day while at the shop because when I went over to
see the males all the rest did not do much, he was all over the cup, so I
grabbed him, I came home today and he had a monster bubble nest built, if I
would of got him a week sooner I would of spawned him, he has such a big
nest it looks like someone was doing dishes with his water...lol
All the betta fry seem ok, except I think my second tank heater broke, which
I am not happy about because its freezing here at the moment and I don't
want to leave the house to go get another one, just turned the heat up to 80
degree's. The light for the heater is still on but the temp dropped, I am
thinking maybe water got into it somehow, its only a few months old. the
temp in the tank is only 74, which is not great. I hate this microworm sh*t,
gross (the smell) I keep giving my kids stuff to do it for me (if you do it
i'll give you a couple bucks to go to the store) people are right its
expensive to spawn betta's

=======================
You can very CAREFULLY run your hand down the heater and see if it feels
warm while the light is on. If it's as cold as the water, it died -
naturally.

Koi-Lo....

Good!

Some bettas aren't worth the food you put into them, let alone the
time. It's a *lot* of work raising the male fry to selling size, so if
your going to spawn and raise bettas, you need to spawn for true colors
and breeds. I know it took me over 5 years of line breeding to get a
black body with yellow tail and fins to breed true. Then for someone to
cross breed anything into the line, the offspring would become
worthless.

I hate this microworm sh*t, gross (the smell).....

Grin - - - Sounds like your culture is turning dark (smells) and a new
culture needs to be started - 3 or 4 days ago. If your hatching your
own baby brine shrimp, put a white paper coffee filter under your baby
brine shrimp net. The baby brine that goes through the net and stoped
by the coffee filter is as small as microworms or vinegar eels - small
enough for betta fry second food. First food I always used hard boiled
egg yolk. ........................ Frank

I used the egg yolk the first day but was worried it might file the tank,
some people say yes some say no.
No I have not started BS yet only the microworms, but the breeder I have
been dealing with (the one who started my microworms for me, said let him
know he has live BS.
I would love black betta's, and with yellow fins, I bet they are beautiful.
I more or less bred the betta's just because I enjoy it, I did use two of my
best male/female, but as soon as I am done reading all of the info on
gene/coloring... I will start doing it more serious, I have a place to take
these guys when they get old enough, right now i am just getting the hang of
it.
thanks frank
Nik
I figured i needed to start a new culture, i got the oatmeal and yeast
ready, just got to push my self to do it tonight.
