I'm no puffer expert. I had two Green Spotted Puffers that grew up together
and were still doing fine in a 20 gallon long tank at 2 years of age and
about 3.5" in length - about half their mature size. I gave them away -
didn't have the tank setup to deal with their eventual mature size - would
require 55 gallons. But from what I've read most puffers don't get along
and do better alone. Maybe you can put some decorations in the tank like
caves or pipes that your puffer can swim in and out of.

What sort of puffer do you have? What are your water specs?

Try giving him some small snails--puffers love eating those.

i think it's a brown puffer, not sure, about 5.5inch

Many fish can change colour--it is usually a sign of mood. Stressed fish
often appear faded or very dark depending on the species.

Judging from his stereotypic behaviour in the video he does appear to be
stressed, but he is active so he is probably healthy otherwise.

My guess is environment. If your water specs are on par for that fish then
perhaps it is due to lack of cover or due to interference from the other
fish in the tank. Scats are very active fish that can occasionally be
belligerent; they may be playing a part in stressing your puffer too.

breed snails for him!
my puffers have always done best in species tanks too
yes most have distinct day/night colours too!
just watch he doesn't nip ya fishys too much
The usuals are important, ammonia and nitrite water tests
because brackish setups take so dam long to cycle
it can be tricky to get it all running smooth
puffers suffer worms quite commonly and even when clean of them
they need LOTS of feeds
yours does look very well fed tho, so yea lookin good
as a treat, if your biological filters can handle the load you can try a
crab
puffers love torturing and killing them
