Default Cleaning filter cartridges

I have a lifeguard canister filter, I just changed the cartridge and I am
wondering can i clean the old cartridge? If so how? it is a brand new cartridge
only used for 1 month. also there are now bubbles coming out of the hose that
is connected to the filter and the pressure gage is reading zero. Will the
bubbles stop and pressure build in a few days? Sorry this is long but am new
to wet dry and cannister filters... thanks in advance
