Default newbie again on juwel tank

Hi again,

I posted last night about mu juwel tank.
I have an issue with the air kit which is attached to the filter pump.

No air bubbles is coming out of the filter.
At first like an idiot i put the venturi kit in the water then realised that
it should be left out in the air.
Still no bubbles coming out.

Anyone have any ideas what may be going wrong?

Filter works magic.

Hi,

I've have the same problem here in my juwel... it just starts a few
days after i connect it every time disconnect it.

as a newbie it frustrated me too, and i've went on a search for a quiet
air pump, found none. BUT then i discovered that when you dont
over-populate the aquarium, and you have a surface water circulation -
you dont need an air pump (read more on this if you want to do this
right) ... so now my 100 liter tank contains about 15 fish's with no
extra air... and everyone is happy. expecialy me since its so quiet !

The Juwel filter box setup should oxygenate the water sufficiently on it's
own, that is what it was designed to do, the returning water causes surface
movement, which oxygenates the water.

I do not have aventuri kit, but I believe they go in the filter box and pump
air into the returning water before it is returned to the tank, if this is
the case you wouldn't see the bubbles as they would pop in the filter box.

I actually have an undergravel filter aswell as the Juwel filter, this is
powered by an airstone, so I do get additional air that way.

Go here

http://www.juwel-aquarium.de/uk/

Select your tank and at the bottom is the instruction manual and passport in
..pdf format, download and read these.

No need - as long as the surface is moving (test with a pinch
of flake and see if it moves round) you are getting sufficient
oxygenation into the tank.

Yep! It's not very good, however. I tried the venturi but
I have better luck with a piece of thin air line. Attach
that instead of the venturi and be sure it is coming out the
top at the other end. (Blow down it gently to test if needs
be).

If you want bubbles and noise, try the airline (if the venturi
doesnt work). If you want quiet bubbles, get an airstone / pump.
If you just want your fish to be ok, no need for either.

I've had several air-stone/pumps with various old aquariums, i've
browsed all around for a quiet one when i bought the juwel and couldnt
find a totaly quiet pump anywhere ! (when i mean quiet i mean TOTALY
quiet).

the ventury doesnt work, and when it does, its also very noisey, it
sounds like a kid is sucking the last drops of his cola with a straw...
that sucks cuz i did want some extra oxygen...

I have a cheap rena air pump. I can't hear it at all.
You have to make sure you don't let it rattle against anything.
By anything, I include pieces of polystyrene etc!
I have mind on top of a soft toy snake and it is silent.
Drives a box corner filter but have used same for air stone.

Yes. Sounds awful. You're better with a line and stone.

But why do you need the extra oxygen?
