Default Oscar tankmates?

Hi all. I know this question comes up a lot, but I'm looking for suitable
tankmates for oscars. I have a 6' x 2' x 18" tank.
I would like another cichlid species in there, maybe jewel cichlids. My
question is will either species show too much aggression towards each other?
I also like firemouth's, but was wondering if they would cause too much
friction?
I would also like to add a gourami species. I was thinking of the 3 spot.
Would they get bullies too much by the oscars?
Also would rainbow fish be an alternative, as I've seen them in display
tanks with Barramundi and they seem to do ok?
Any help or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I've had good luck with firemouths, Jack Dempseys, Green Severums, and
a single convict. Two + convicts always ended up really disrupting
the tank! :-)
