I was speaking to couple of the local dealers, and some of them say a couple of internal power filters tend to be better in the long run... Because a) they are quieter, b) less prone to failure c) cheaper d) higher filtration rates for a give cost. My feeling is to go for the canisters because a) they are easier to clean - no hassle in digging around in the tank and b) more efficient with a larger filter volume and space for good bio filtration, but at the price of lower filtration rates. Hi there. Both my 300l tanks has got both. I've got Fluval 304s outside and a smaller power filter inside. The inside filter gets cleaned with every water change, and the Fluval once/2 months. Been running for 3 years like that. One Fluval pump did pack up, but I modified it with a 1000l/h pond pump, and it works better than it used to. -- QUIPd 1.02: (119 of 634) - 640k ought to be enough for anybody. - - Bill Gates, 1981 ##1488 # 5:10pm up 5 days, 7:22, 5 users, load average: 0.16, 0.14, 0.14 |
