Algae eaters for a tanganikyan tank?

I currently have a 40-gallon cichlid tank set up, with a mated pair of
Ocellatus gold and a mated pair of Juli. Regani, plus 5 rainbowfish.
Tank also has some red ramshorn snails and a bunch of trumpet snails.
The tank is lightly planted (java fern, java moss, and some anubia).

Everything seems to be going good in the tank (lots of babies, so the
pairs are happy, at least), but I've been trying to keep the algae down.
Are there any fish out there that would be able to keep it in check?
Plecos that stay under 3-4 inches, for example, and would tolderate
Tanganikyan water chemistry?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have seen others recommend bristlenose plecos for similar setups.
Though I have no personal experience with them. Not sure whether they
will eat your plants though.

I use Zebra snails and they don't eat my java fern, Bolbitis, or Anubias.
Also, depending on the pH of your tank, you could try a clown pleco. They
grow to 4" and don't mind harder water and a pH of 7.5 (water conditions
similar to rainbows).I have not kept clowns with my Tanganikyans but as long
as your tank has lots of hiding places they might do ok .

I have two tanks from Tanganyka (172 gal and 140 gal) and problems to keep
the algae down.
But I found out a good solution: the Crossocheilus siamensis. He is a south
asian algae eater,
I am keeping this fish with Tanganykan fishes and the algae are down now.
Don't have problems with the Tanganikyan water chemistry and don'y have
problems with the Tanganikyan species
For me the best algae eater for all set up tanks.
