My blue dolphin (been in the tank one week, came with a L.Caeruleus and a
fabulous baby P. Demasoni (sorry for the spelling) sits on the bottom of the
tank, and this afternoon wouldn't eat with the others, and though as I watch
him, I do not see anyone acting agressive to him, as most leave him alone.

Help,... he was cool all weekend, but if he isn't stressed could it be he is
just a bad fish and will die. I have a rusty in my tank that all the other
fish hate but he is one of the first for food. (Tank is 55 gal with lace
rocks on one corner of the tank)...

Help

Sounds like it was sick. You would be well advised to take some preventative
action, incase it had some sort for communicable disease. I don't know
enough aboutthe meds to recommend anything, but try adding some salt (NOT
table salt!). Do a large water change and add the salt to the change water
at 1 tsp. per 5 Gallons of water replaced (Only use the volume of the
replacement water!) I have alwasy found this to be a great preventative, and
I add it as a matter of course to most of my tanks. You can buy regular "Sea
Salt" at the grocery store usually in the table salt section. Be sure its
not iodized though. Good Luck

well I got my rusty out of the tank into a 20 gal (took 30 minutes and I
ended up grabbing him with my hand as we were both tired... Rusty has light
marks on his face, I think he was in a couple fights. Cichlids tear at your
heart... grrrr

that's the worst part of it, you get attached to something as small as a
fish, and when something bad happens to it, the size of the hurt is in no
way compared to the size of the fish....

sorry...

Dont' worry so much about it not eating, they can go a week easy without
eating.... I'd be more worried that he's got an internal parasite, or some
other disease.... Stresscoat isnt' a medication remember, it's an
additive... The ID of what is wrong could be the hardest part.... good luck
with that...

You can try www.cichid.org Once you log on, go to message boards. They will
recommend you to the Urgent Care Center. With in a day or so a DMV will
post back. There is a form to fill out. I found it usefell when I had some
issues in my tank.
