Default Trip to PetsMart

I took a trip to PetsMart yesterday and bought a nice pair of Mickey Mouse
platys. The black and marble mollies had the shimmies so I passed them by.
Had they not been shimmying they would have been in my cart. I also came
home with another rubberlip pleco and 2 ottos for the new set-up. Bettas
were pretty but all were blue or red. This afternoon we're heading out for
to CeeCee's Pizza to celebrate our anniversary and the over to the new Petco
for my free Aquatic Habitat (and maybe another betta).

The water at PM felt awfully cold. I don't think they keep it warm enough.

Is that Cee Cee or CiCi's pizza.not familiar with Cee Cee but have put
many a cici pizza to ruin...........their alfredo cheese or regular
double cheese is best pizza in the area IMHO......I just am not
allowed to eat it anymore......sniff sniff sniff

I quit buying any fish or any dry goods period at any big box store,a
nd get all my fish form the local LFS. If they do not have what I want
they will order what I need and I can have it in a week or
less.........and if it does not suit me when it comes in its not a
problem with refusing it.......I order 9/10ths of my drygoods on line
anymore......Big Al's or Drs. Foster & Smith when things go on sale.

I'm wrong, the spelling is CiCi's and not CeeCees. I like their
"everything" pie. I can eat it until I explode. :-)~~ I'm not diet
restricted but do usually stick to low-carb foods. At my age it's easy to
put on weight. This was a special treat.

Most of my drygoods come from Foster & Smith. They have good prices and
excellent service. We have an excellent private Aquarium store but it's
about 24 miles from here.... much of that drive through heavy traffic.
Their prices are higher than the local chains and no guarantees. I've had
good luck with fish from PetSupermarket which is a mere 10 minutes from my
house. If you buy two you get the third fish for free. They guarantee them
for 14 days. :-)))

Dunno what size hyour looking at but I wuold go with the 110 as there
really is no such thing as you already know as too big and besides
they can be cut back in flow........that is if yuor going to stick
with an Aqua Clear. What I like about AC is I am not nailed down to
propreitary media. I can buy 36" x 36" by 3/8" filter media pads
(ridgid type) and it comes in plain, charcoal impregnated, or phospate
removal or nitrate removal impregnation for about $7.00 a square yard
locally, and one yard makes a heap of filter pads, which I cut to fit
up alongside the pump sidewall of chamber and fold it at a 90 deg bend
to fit up under the bottom of the sponge. This way it ensures all
water is passed through the media. I do not buy expensive charcoal
bags, but buy 1# bags of loose charcoal or even 5# containers and use
the enclosed bag that AC come prepaced with and refill it and use a
nylon tie or bread bag closure (flat plastic tags commonly found on
bread) to close the open end of bag, and they work just fine and
replacement media is dirt cheap this way.........It takes many years
for a sponge to wear out, and the bio media never wears out
anyhow............

I have also cut abnd fit the batt type media to fit along the pump
wall and over the sponge as well so the sponge catches more junk and
is less prone to clogging up if left in too long..........but it all
depends on bio load of the tank and personal preference. The ridgid
pads will in most cases do a good job of keeping even minut particles
out of the water and ifits doubled it will effectively polish the
water as well.AC are just so versatile.
