Happy New Year,
Does anyone have a preferred kalkwasser mix (for those that use one). I'm currently using Kent Marine, but I've noticed a lot more precipitate in the mix lately, using the same proportions of water / powder. Anyone have any experience with any other brands? Thanks - Patrick |

I go for months between washing out my containers. I've also seen it at wal-mart in the fall, but at this time of year, you may need to order it. --Kurt |

Thanks Kurt, I never tried using the pickling lime before. I've read about
others' good results with it, but never tried it myself, I'll give it a shot. Patrick "KurtG" wrote in message . .. And you are using RO water, and not aerating the
lime water, right? I found a really good source directly from a manufacture here in Florida. I used to sell it in the store. Just for the fun of it, I sold it real cheap. I sold it for a $1.00 a bag. Then when people would see it and ask what it was, I'd say "It's a dollar bag". :-) Hmm, maybe I should start buying it again, and auction it off on ebay. :-) Wayne Sallee Patrick wrote on 1/2/2008 8:47 AM: Happy New Year, Does anyone have a preferred kalkwasser mix (for those that use one). Thanks Wayne, I'm not mixing anything different lately (same kind of water,
etc) and do not aerate it, it just sits in a closed pitcher until ready to be dripped. For some reason it's not mixing like it used to though. Is it possible that I have a "bad batch" of the powder (it is a new container of mix) or that if the water is not kept at the usual temp could that effect it? During the warmer months (I'm in NJ) I just let it sit on the kitchen counter (ambient room temp around 75, in the winter ambient room temp is around 70). Patrick "Wayne Sallee" wrote in message ... Wayne, I am using RO water. The mixture sits in an airtight pitcher (one of
the old type screw-on lid lemonade pitchers) with a lid on and only gets opened when I need to fill up my drip-dose container. It just seems that this only started to happen after I received the new container of Kent's product that's why I was wondering if it could be a bad batch (don't know if that's even possible though). Thanks for any suggestions, Patrick "Wayne Sallee" wrote in message ... You say that you are using the same water, but if you are using tap water, that changes. Dry calcium hydroxide will loose it's strength by absorbing CO2. It's best for long time storage, that you store it in an air tight container. A bag is fine for short term storage. If storing in a bag, double bagging and triple bagging helps. |
