Default Need to wash liner??

Have a question about EPDM liners. I had replaced an old 350 gallon
preformed pond with a liner. Now accross the liner in nice blue letters it
states it is fish safe.
I rinsed the liner with water, filled the pond up, put in some plants waited
about a week, and threw my fish in... Couple days later the fish started
dying....

I have not had any problems with my water, as I have had to re-fill my old
pond frequently due to pump issues.
My question is does anyone know if you are indeed supposed to wash the liner
first.... And even though its says it's fish safe, is there anything I
should check for? chemical-wise, that it might be letting into the water?

Thanks for any help.

You say you threw some fish in. Where the fish healthy?
Did you quarantine them first? Did you throw them in or
did you let them adjust to the temperature of the pond and
then release them?

A week is nowhere near long enough to establish a bio filter - how many fish
did you put in? Chances are they died of Ammonia/Nitrite poisoning.
