Name that fish? by
Dunny
Hi all - my first post, and a quick query if you don't mind?
Here's a slightly low quality photo of two fish my 10 year old son caught at a
local (Uk) pond.

"Hey dad, can we keep them? Pleeeeeeease!"
I think they're perch - they have a spiny...

Oops, new tank filled with fish before I learned about cycling by
Ralston88
I have a 55-gal running for just over a week now. After letting the
water circulate for a couple of days, I put in 4 or 5 gouramis.
Everything looked fine, so I put in a bunch more over the weekend.
The only advice I received from the store was to change 20% of the
water per week for the first 2...

frogs, algae eaters, snails.... by
Danya
ok, to put this simply, i like frogs (water frogs of course) and was
curious if they work well in an aquarium. i've heard they just hide
all day... any comments...?
i recently set up a 32 gal tank and am sort of worried that it might
grow algae. my 10 gal tank didn't but it was on the other...

moving x-country followup by
Jess Van Tassell
I'm trying not to count my chickens before they hatch, but I think a
three week long oydessy has come to a happy end.
Some might remember I called for advice a month ago about moving from
NY to CA with fish... I nixed the big plan because of how long it
would take the moving truck (with the tanks)...

New Fluval 304 by
Bill Stock
I just picked up a Fluval 304 (Petsmart was giving them away - insert your
own joke), as I'll be moving to a larger tank later this year and want to
run a couple of 304s on it. It's running alonside my AC500 for now.
I searched for concerns regarding the flimsy rubber rings holding the tubing
in...

I'm thinking of adding a crawfish ("blue lobster") to my tank. Anything
I should know about? Anything special that they need?

New Used Aquarium Setup by
DeePeeJr
I recently purchased a 55 gallon freshwater setup. System includes
undergravel filter, powerheads, gravel, HOT cannister and Emporer 400
filter.
The system was up and running a few days ago, albeit, pretty unkempt.
There were a few living fish in the tank that I did not notice any
signs of...

Ahhh, The Power of Bloodworms by
nuchumYussel
Hello, while in a local fish store, I saw some bloodworms and decided,
what the heck I'll see if the fish like them. Well, when I came home I
put some bloodworms into the tanks and WOW! The fish went nuts ver the
bloodworms. They (the fish) are showing great color. My fish just love
the bloodworms,...

Why do I have cloudy water ? by
Jim
Can someone unravel my mystery ??
I've always prided myself on having a crystal clear aquarium however
lately this has not been the case. I suspect the cause might be my
new aquarium rocks.
I picked up 6 or 7 ocean rocks off the beach (Fort Lauderdale,
Florida) 3 weeks ago and when I got home, I...

Small pimple on gambusia? by
Sam
I just noticed that one of my mosquito fish has a small yellow dot or wart
behind his gills. He does not seem botherd by it but I wonder if I should
isolate him or treat him (and how to treat him).
Thanks.

Insects? by
Sam
I have a tank that I try to make more like a natural stream. It has some
minnows, some shrimp, some plants, but is missing insects, worms and etc.
Anyone ever try having waterbugs or rotifers or such things in a tank?
Can they be kept under control? My ponds have plenty but there are...

Occassional itching or "flashing" on gravel? by
OldTownSta
It seems it's not uncommon for an individual fish in my tank to go through a
few days when they will occassionally quickly rub themselves against the gravel
or other objects in the tank. It looks as if they're quickly scratching
themselves, possibly the gill area, and I think I've heard this...

Adding Salt to a Freshwater Aquarium by
Jim
I've been getting conflicting points of view about adding salt to my
freshwater aquarium. Can someone PLEASE give me a "no-holds-barred"
answer ???
I have a 90 gallon tank with Gouramis, Bala sharks, Tetras, Angels,
and Cherry barbs. As a general tonic, I've been using Doc Wellfish's
Aquarium...

tail nipping, AGAIN by
Danya

tetra, and "painted" tetra) were in my 10 gallon, someone was picking
on the swordtail and guppy and was biting their tails off. since i've
added all my fish in my 32 gallon i noticed my 2 new guppies suddenly
have a little slit...

Dwarf Gouramis by
Dan White
I got a red dwarf gourami recently and he seems quite healthy. However, he
likes to stay at the top of the water in the shade near the filter tubes,
and go back and forth after his reflection. Do gourami's need partners like
you might do for tetras? If so, are male blue dwarf gouramis...

I have an angelfish, 8 harlequin rasboras and a common pleco. In about a week

give them up. Can they survive the trip? I've got a battery powered...
