Who ate my Clown Loaches? by
Ninereeds
Hi,
bear with me as I am a beginner to cichlids.
We have a 6' x 18"(h) x 14"(d) tank with about 45 gallons in it. It
has been running with fish now for about 6 weeks.
My wife bought a variey of fish from several shops and we now have:

Convict population control by
Wendell
My tank (24 gallon) started innocently enough; two electric yellow
juveniles, two blood parrots, two convicts. Flash forward four years,
having bought no fish, I have a blood parrot and about 300 convicts.
(not literally, but... ;) And they _keep breeding_. No fish store
around here wants any...

Firemouths and acaras by
Len
I have a 55 gallon tank with 5 firemouths and a raphael cat. I 'm
looking for something to add to the tank for a little variety and color.
Someone at my LFS suggested blue acaras. One of the other workers
there( a younger worker) didn't seem so sure if this combination would
work. Any ideas...

Encouraging "nice" algae? by
Jamesy
Hi
I recently "cured" a brief, but rather nasty, bout of cyanobacteria (came
back from holiday to find rocks covered with slime) in our Mbuna tank.
I used a single treatment of eSHa Protalon-707 and added a UV steriliser to
help prevent its return.
Now that the blue/green mess has been defeated,...

Overwhelmed with Baby Jack Dempsies by
[email protected]
I have have two Jack Dempsies purchased in Jan. and they simply won't
stop breeding. I have about 30 babies and I don't know what to do with
them. I also can't seem to find a way to get the parents to stop
breeding. What are my options for finding homes for these little guys.
The oldest ones are...

African holding fry by
skozzy
Is it the male or female that holds the fry in the mouth ?
And from the time you notice it holding the fry, how long before the parent
can no longer keep them safe in the mouth ?.
I have one that is holding fry again and I need to set up another tank
before I start to loose any. The last lot that...

What's the white lump on Big Bob's fin ? by
Alan Silver
Hello,
One of our fish has developed a white lump on a fin. It doesn't seem to
bother the fish, but I would like to know what it is and if I should do
anything about it.
Please have a look at :-

New Fry questions? by
jk
When can newly hatched fry be removed to a new tank of their own? These
are Severum. Is there a best time to do it, growth wise? I'm asking so they
can be better fed, and the parents can start over again.

Separating fry by
jk
Sorry to repeat this, but I lost my old messages, and can't seem to get
them back?
Is there a study done concerning when to separate fry from the parents?
Is there a safety vs. growth potential at an early age? I have spawning
Severum at this time and want to put the babes in their own tank, so...

what do you feed your mbuna? by
SkyCatcher
Hi,
Looking for some alternatives to feed my mbuna (mainly p. zebra). I
predomantly use nutrafin flake but would like to vary it with pellet &
fresh.
I have tried the nutrafin spirulina sticks but my fish didn't fancy it!

Emperor 400 filter media alternatives? by
Texas Yankee
I'd like to use something besides the Emperor 400 cartridges (with the
charcoal) in the first position for particulate filtration - something less
expensive - I already use the media baskets in the second position with
crushed coral to help with the PH - I have loads of uncut blue bonded...
