ANyone got any pictures of their tanks ? by Alan Silver
Hello, Having spent some time researching cichlids (thanx to everyone who helped), I have yet to see any pictures of cichlid tanks. I have seen plenty pictures of just the fish, but I am interested in seeing how people set up the tank. I would like an idea of layout, decoration, etc. Thanx in...

External Canister vs Internal Power filter by Johann Snyman
On Stardate : 0568.16 -Thu10Jul03-1710 Simon Bloomer wrote: I was originally considering a Fluval 204 (or possibly a 304). Eheim in South Africa is just far too expensive. I was speaking to couple of the local dealers, and some of them say a couple of internal power filters tend to...

when should I strip electric blue of eggs? by Andre D
Hi, My electric blue's bred last friday and I was wondering when it would be a good time to strip the mother of the fry? Do electric blues look after their fry upon birth? What about the timeframe for peacocks?

Pengiun 330 probs by Rich A.
I just inherited a 55Gal Oceanic tank, which I'm sure my cichlids will appreciate more than my current 20Gal setup :). Anyhow, it came with a Pengiun 330 Biowheel thingie. I tested it out, and it operates, but it won't suck the water all the way up. Just about halfway and it stops. Is there a part...

Algae in my cichlid tank. by Finz Up
We are new to ciclids and have a fully established 20 gal tank, pH around 8, all other parameters good. Since we switched to cichlids and raised the water temp we have lots of brown algea growing on the rocks and coral and plants. Is this OK for the tank? Can you use algae destroyer drops or...

paint for use in tank by ka1ifq {Michael Martell}
Is there any type of paint that is safe for use in an aquarium? I had heard that acrylic paints could be used, but do you need a sealer over them. Thanks Mike

Blue Jack Dempsey by Jim Brown
I don't think the colour is sex linked as it is in other fish and animals. Blue male JD to normal female JD produced mix of normal males and females. Didn't get chance to cross blue father to daughters. Brother/sister matings produced mixed percentages of blues and normals. Fry of this crossing...

Brightening up convicts by Jim Brown
The colour may become better as they age and mature. But what do you have to lose by trying other foods? It seems to be working for other fish, and a single item diet is never a good idea in long range maintenance. Jim Wellman wrote in...
