Which heaters are solid state and heater recommendations by
Harry Muscle
I've been doing a bit of research on which heater to get for my new 55G
tank. It seems like Ebo-Jager heaters are very highly recommended, however,
I believe they still use a bi-metal strip to control the temp. So I started
looking a little at solid state heaters, like Tronic. I'm wondering...

Vacation feeders? used one? by
JP
has anyone used the EHIEM automatic feeder with the 'air system'? Has
anyone used the PENTAIR model and auxilary hopper?
Suggestions? Experiences?
I'm looking to automate fish feeding while away for around 3 weeks -
something that will work longer than those dissolving food shells
which seem to...

joining plexi glass for a display, what should I use? by
SpongeHead
I am making a 24" x 24" window, its about 1/2" thick. I am putting a
small green air diffuser (i think thats the name, just a little green
tube that makes bubbles) on the bottom and covering it with a little
sand. It will be a window that bubbles basicly.
I have some precut 1/4" acrylic plexi...

Funny shaped tank...funny shape filter by
Granville
A friend is getting a tank built. It will act as a coffee table.
30 inches high, 3 foot square.
It will sit on a six inch wooden plinth, with access to the space underneath
the tank.
He wants to hide all the filtration system within the plinth.
So he needs a thin system (6 inches high) that...

Do I need to get the glass cut on this tank ?? by
[email protected]
Hi,
I've been given a 48" x 15" x 12" glass tank, and I'm wondering about
its construction. It has been in constant use for over ten years I
believe. However, I have read on various websites that tanks should
be constructed with all four walls sitting ON TOP of the base and the
end walls...

"Recipe" for RO/DI water by
DocBob
Potassium Chloride is also what is used in water softeners as a Sodium
Alternative. Costs around $8 for a 40 lb bag. A good brand is Morton's
(yes the salt company). Check out your local Sears, they carry it.
Buzz
Thanks Buzz, good info...I didn't know that was the same.

Eheim 1250 ... noisy? by
Joe V.
I inherited an Eheim 1250 pump with my tank, and over the weekend I set this
up as an external pump to use with a SCWD I purchased. I was a little
surprised at the vibration noise, especially after reading the webpages on
this pump and how it's supposed to be quiet ..
Does anyone else have this...

Home Depot buckets ... safe for aquarium use? by
Harry Muscle
Are those buckets that you can buy at home depot (the ones that have the HD
logo on the outside, I think they are 5G or so) safe for use with aquariums
(ie: water change, etc.). Also does anyone now of a source for slightly
smaller buckets/containers? A 5G might be a little too big to fit under...

If you can get mardel products I would recomend them. The symtoms you discribe
could be secondary to the white spot or another disease altogether. Identfying
