LR & Cycling by
DeeOooGee
I'm going to go ahead and purchase 45 lbs of Fiji LR from liveaquaria. My
tank is a 46 gallon and it has been up for only 100 hours. I have heard
good things about this company and they are only a 4 hour drive (which I
drive on my route to my home town at least once a month).
I have the biowheel...

Using Crushed Coral & LR after storgae? by
Les Johnstone
Hi all,
My 80g tank wiped out 6 months ago and a took it apart for storage. I put
the Crushed Coral in a big bucked and the LR in a bucket with tank water.
Now after six months most of the tank water evaporated leaving the LR
exposed to air.
The obvious question is, can I just put the LR in a new...

Mrs. Wages by
Billy
As many of you know, Mrs. Wages Pickling Lime is chemically
indistinguishable (and like 5x cheaper) from that overpriced crap
they sell at the LFS and call "kalkwasser". I just ordered 2 jars of
aforementioned pickling lime ...and they sent me a free bag of
cheesecake mix, LOL!!! I wonder if they...

New tank capacity and invertebrates by
Gary
Do invertebrates such as the Stenopus hispidus count towards the total
number of fish when stocking a new marine fish tank? For example if based
on tank capacity you can stock 20" of fish, would that need to be reduced if
adding the Stenopus Hispidus.

Gary.

High Ph by
David Young
I have been running a high Ph level for about a year now. It averages
9.03. This level is by test kit and also digital probe. All other levels are
where they should be, Ammonia - 0, Ni - 0, Na - 0, Ca 350 - 375. No
additives or supplements used.
I have a fairly complex setup. 120 gal reef with...

Favities - sweeping tentacles ? by
Pszemol
I have small colonies of favia (or favities), brown
variation taken from the seashore of Florida Keys...
They look nice, dark brown with polyps extending
from the rocky ball of their skeleton...
They are doing fine without target feeding, but
I have heard they could benefit from feeding...

Whodunnit? by
Knowleman
Woke up to a dead partially eaten cleaner shrimp this morning (one of
three). It looks like it had been in the process of shedding. All of
the fish have an innocent "Who me?" look about them - i.e. none of
them paying the "remains" any attention.
So, was it murder or natural causes?

so much info, but.... by
DeeOooGee
Hi,
I am in the process of cycling a 46 gallon tank. I didn't want to go with a
reef tank, because of $. I am new to marine tanks (this is my first one)
and have been reading so much about them I'm starting to get overloaded. I
have crushed coral mix for substrate (30 lbs of it) and a penguin...

Anemone and lighting puzzle? by
Knowleman
Got a green bubble anemone a few days ago. It rooted within a few
hours with its foot buried at the back of a little cave in the
rockwork. There is now a strange lighting related routine that seems
to go against the text books:
1. The Arcadia 4 tube lighting system comes on at half power (1...

ammonia problems with live rock cycling by
marshall baines
Hi,
I am pretty new at this so I am hoping someone can help me. I
received half of the live rock for my 90 gallon tank 2 days ago. I
have been constantly doing multiple water changes (30% 2-3 times a
day), but the ammonia just does not seem to be getting under 1ppm so
easily. I noticed last...
