Protien Skimmer Problem by
Rupan
I have had a successful FOWLR setup for a year now and have decided to
convert it over to a reef tank. One of the things I never bought was a
protien skimmer. The problem is that when I originally set up my tank
I never planned on a 5-7" skimmer hanging off the back. My tank is
only 3" from the...

Setup Schedule Pt II by
tech27
Thanks for all the great info on my previous post. My last question (ha!) is
how to install the live sand/live rock.
Should the tank be filled with water before to get it up to temperature and
then put in the LS and LR? Or should I put in the sand and rock first then
fill with room temp water (in...

Protein Skimmer Question (Newbie) by
F.D.S.
Hi all! I just setup my sal****er tank March 31st. It is a 55 gal tank with
30 lbs of live rock and 40 lbs of live sand. Filtration for now is handled
by 1 Penguin 330 Power filter with bio wheel and 1 Whisper 60 Power filter.
The protein skimmer is a Jebo 180 Hang on Tank model. The skimmer...

Hobby, my a** by
Dinky
I bought 20 more pounds of LR for my 75g FOWLR, and a handful of
shells for my hermits. I put in the shells and situated the rock,
then settled in to watch, several hermits decided to move into a new
home almost immediately. The rock was teeming with life, pods, worms,
and bunches of things I've no...

Glass baffles by
Phil
I'm building a 15 gal sump (all-glass 15-High) and everything I've been
researching talks about installing the acrylic baffles. I just went to
the hardware store and I see acrylic is pretty pricey, whereas glass is way
cheap by comparison.
Any particular reason not to use glass for the baffles...

Coraline algae help!!!!!! by
RLIrwin
I have a small sal****er tank (10 gallons) with two clownfish, 4 astea snails,
and 4 dwarf hermit crabs. I put 4 pounds of Fiji live rock into the aquarium
about six weeks ago. The purple color of the coraline algae was a nice
addition to the aquarium, but it seems to be dying. The water...

ARGH! Mantis shrimp have bred! by
Joel
Yes, it's true. I have been fiddling with this x-terminator mantis trap, and
although I succeeded in catching my gorilla crab, I have at least 2 mantis
still in my 40 gallon and now they have bred. I noticed an unusual amount of
clicking the night before, so much so that I was convinced they...

ich or something else ? by
[email protected]
My blue tang has been in my tank now for around 2 weeks ... about 1
week ago i thought he developed ich (being some almost microscopic
white particles on his belly).. They are now gone with no trace.
(basically lasted about 3 days) ...
Would this have been ich or something else?

Linckia star by
Hiver
Hello,
I bought 2 linckia star about 3 weeks ago. One is doing fine but
the arm tips of the other one seem to be disintegrating slowly. I know
Linckia star are hard to keep and I read that they often lose the arms
and die. Are the symptoms of mine similar? Is there a chance that it
gets better or...

How much live rock would my 75 gallon need to eliminate the need for

too much light? by
Kelly
Is it possible? I have read that more is always better but is there a limit
based on size of tank?
The reason I ask is that I am deciding on either a 250w or 400w halide and
the prices are comparable. I have a 36"x16"x17" 46 gallon. I'm building the
canopy myself so that isn't an issue.
TIA
Kelly
