Koi waving tail by David
I have a Koi that has just started waving its tail out of the water. At first we thought it was digging in a plant pot and the tail just happened to be at the surface, out of the water. However, today, we took a closer look and there isn't a pot!! Has anyone else seen this?

Problem with Greg's DIY filter by MISSYMAGICGIRL
I made his filter as designed. I used two because I have a 3000 gph pump. My water is cloudy, still dirty and barely see my fish! I have even changed some of the water and added filter materials and still no improvement. I am ready to buy a premade filter which I was going to at first. What am I...

Setup for outside lotus container or pond by claude rogers
Lowes sells a small pond, it's about 27 inches across, round, black, 12 inches or 24 inches deep, 2 different kinds. I think it was Nedra, don't hold me to that, who said to bury it just outside the pond, I like the sound of that. Question is, after the dirt and plant and gravel and stuff, do...

Theo van Daele by Theo van Daele
Hey Judy, Thanks for the kind words. I have a submerged pump in the middle of the pond (Oasis Optimax 15000), pipe going up over the rim and then under the ground again. Picture 1 is where you should see the pipe come up, only thing is you don't ;-) (That's the hole idea right...) I had to...

I am putting a new pond in my back yard. It is my first time doing a project like this. I have pretty much got the hole dug at about 3'5" and i have already purchased the rebar. My problem is that i cant seem to figure out the best type of concrete to create a liner. I was told gunite and portland....

Dead Frog by BenignVanilla
We found a dead frog in the VF yesterday. He has a small lesion/tumor on the side of his belly. No fish as shown any problems, and all other frogs are happily sucking down flies. Do you think this is an anomaly or something to be concerned about? -- BenignVanilla Pond Site:...

What type of Algae is this? by RCM
I have had green water and now its clear using clear pond. I have had long string algae running from my waterfall and got rid of that using SAB. But I still have a fine green algae that clings mostly to the bottom rocks and lies floating in clumps along the bottom. I scraped up a leaf bag full...

sonic device work? by K30a
I would not use a sonic device. Even if they did work. I always worry about overkill and the possibility that some poor dog will be getting the 'effects' and not be able to get away (like the poor dog on our street sentenced to live in a tiny concrete run). k30a

Holidays by max
Our holidays next month will see us away for 4 weeks. Currently my pump is running 24/7 with daily filter cleaning & the 20+ fish also feeding daily. Will the pond & more importantly the fish survive this period of neglect ? Should I leave the pump running or not ? Should I get a friend to feed the...

Shareholders Pond VF Solution by BenignVanilla
OK, so most of you know that I have had a big problem with my VF in that I didn't realize it was so far above ground when I dug it, so now I have a significant amount of liner showing on one end. I had planned to dig it down, but I have existing landscaping in place that would make that difficult...

Anyone recommend (or not) Cal pumps by Chrome!Hat
Hi, I'm thinking of ordering a Cal pump. The price seems right, but then I wonder about the quality. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about them? I'm looking for a submerged 1200+ gph pump. If anyone has suggestions that won't trash my bank account, I'd be happy to listen. Thanks in...

what container to use for lotus by Wendy Kelly Budd
Watch how large of a container you put in the pond, unless you can hire someone to get it out of the pond. My first lotus' container was huge. Dang near killed me when I needed to lift it out. You can also get a very large ROUND container from your local cheap store that's original design was to...

Cheap rocks? by Wilson
I like the looks of my waterfall but I checked around for prices of small white cobblestones because I liked the looks of them....$175 for a 1/2 palette (GAK!) That's not a lot of rock. Anyone know of a cheaper alternative? I'm in central Missouri. Thanks in advance... ~Wilson~

Toads are back! by Roger Grady
"Lee Brouillet" wrote: Our Southern Toads are "good" for about 4 cycles each Spring/Summer. Their trilling is pretty nice, except when you get a whole slew of them in the pond, in which case they become deafening! The large ones are females, and the smaller ones are males....
