Default Koi waving tail

I have a Koi that has just started waving its tail out of the water.
At first we thought it was digging in a plant pot and the tail just
happened to be at the surface, out of the water. However, today, we
took a closer look and there isn't a pot!! Has anyone else seen this?

Maybe it has an itch?
Which might mean a parasite.
Which means I'm out of my league
but others know that kind of stuff.

Take a close look at the tail, make
notes.

Are you sure its mouth isn't on the bottom snacking on goodies? Mine do
head stands all the time.... in fact, they prefer this to other postures -
But, they are snacking away on
(unseen by me) pond treats.

If the fish is permanently swimming like this, suspect a disorder of the
swim bladder.

Not always swimming like this .... just when they see
goodies on the bottom that have to be eaten. ;-)
