DIY Coil Denitrator Questions by
Kveill
I have been looking at different DIY plan for Coil Denitrators and I was
wondering if anyone has had any luck building one of these things. I am
really curious what kind of pump and flow rate did you use. Can anyone make
any recomendations or give me specific directions on how to build one?...

To late to substrate? by
Dan Norgard
Ok, I'm new at this...last tank I had was 45 years ago. Now I think I've
jumped the gun. I have a 29 gal. tank with 'natural' gravel and I planted
several varieties straight into the gravel. I just have 3 small fish right
now.
The question is: Can I move the gravel aside and insert the Laterite...

What is this fish parasite?? by
Tony
Tonight while feeding some baby angelfish my wife noticed something in their
tank. There was a very hard to see "thing" in with the fish. The thing was
much smaller than a human hair and was .25" in length. It had a bump at one
end that I would presume is its head. It was white all over.
After...

Best freshwater fish for tank that is often too warm? by
Dolchas
Greetings all!
I live in a part of Southern California, USA, where it gets pretty
darn warm during the summer months -- at least two days in the last
week the temps got up to 104.5 in the shade. Since I don't have air
conditioning, you can imagine how warm my 20-gallon fish tank can get
-- it...

Advice on Captain Nemo style artwork to use as aquarium backdrop? by
Dolchas
Greetings all!
Well, having had my last freshwater tank since 1985, I recently got a
very cool new one (it is an 'isosceles trapezoid' shape) and am now
working on decorating it. Ideally, I'd like to utilize a backdrop
with some kind of a Jules Verne/Captain Nemo/Nautilus type of
underwater...

first filter change by

cloudy water by
Scott
What type of polyester batting do you suggest? That might help me identify
which stores would carry this product. I am having the same problem with
cloudy water...
Because there's no room in my filter, I was thinking about stuffing the
intake 'pipe' with some batting... Would this work?
Thanks

Pictus Catfish question by
Jim Brown
It would be wise to add the next fish on a slower basis to avoid ammonia and
nitrite spikes.
They are probably swimming a lot as they are cruising for food. They
probably are not strictly a bottom cruiser, so you will have to enjoy them
as they swim where they want. Be very careful about the size...
