Can I store premixed marine water by
craig
I'm taking a trip. I wanted to leave some water with the marine salts
already added to make it easier to change water. This is for those who
will be looking after the tank while I'm away.
Will it start fouling up... with algaes. I thought maybe storing it in
the basement. Sitting on the basement...

Purple Tang by
Big Daddy
I have a purple tang that has been doing fine for several months. However,
recently he has developed something around his eye, and it appears to also
be on a line on his side as well. It isn't white, maybe brown spots.
Anyway, I tried treating with Melafix and Pimafix, but that didn't work. I
did...

Nitrate question by
Kevin Muenzler, WB5RUE
I've had a small marine aquarium going for about three months. It's
populated with native life from the Texas Gulf. I figured since they are
more or less "free" it won't cost me too much to experiment. Anyway, they
are all happy and healthy. Here's the question. It appears as if the
system has...

FTP Sharks swimming inland by
StormChaser
Sharks being spotted on shorelines have been
increasing in news reports. Is this cyclical behavoir,
a reaction to a change in water temperature, or
a meltdown in the Artic?
I have no idea but since posters of this group have
lived the life aquatic for a long time, I can only be in
question mode.

Hi,
I have a system with a sump which sits on the ground & there isn't any way
to raise it up - my problem is cleaning out debris/waste from the sump as I
can't get a siphon working. What way do you guys clean out the chambers in
your sumps?

New salt tank recommendations by
Andy
Howdy everyone!
I've had numerous freshwater tanks before and I'm getting ready to try a
sal****er setup (probably fish only) for the first time. What general
recommendations can anyone give me? I want a good size tank (anywhere
between 55 and 180 gallon). What's the best filter system to use? ...

Hermit Crab dumps half its legs?! by
[email protected]
Yes that is the molting process. It will be fine.. atleast mine was.
Hemit crabs only eat like 3 times a week but still refill its bowl of
food and water even though it can't walk. Hermit Crabs are Noctournal
maby he comes out at night. I persenly think this is the molting
process.

algae by
Mike D.
I set up a 92 gallon corner tank in late march 2005. I used the fluval
filters which the previous owner had used, and my tank cycled quickly and
smoothly, in fact, I don' know if it cycled at all, anytime I ever tested
the water everything was well within the optimum parameters. Anyway, after a
few...

cephalopads (octopus, squid) by
Seb
Does anyone here have a pet squid/octopus/cuttlefish? It requires plenty
of commitment, so most of us won't ever keep one--like to share your
experiences? Biologists say cephalopods are the smartest invertebrates
and it's rather interesting.
