Default Thanksgiving was bad for the fish...

Well we left the fish over Thanksgiving with the neighbor kid checking
on a couple in the QT tank. Turns out four goldfish fish picked this
time to swim in to the skimmer. One died, the other three are pretty
bad off. One has lost nearly all his scales. Ain't it always the way?

The problem was caused by stronger flow into the skimmer I'm sure, but I
had increased the flow a week or two before this and didn't have a problem.

I've put the hurt fish in the QT tank and will add salt and I guess an
antibiotic.

Sorry to hear this. Isn't there a way to prevent fish from getting in these
skimmer boxes? I don't use a skimmer so haven't had that problem. When we
go away for long weekends I don't want anyone coming over to feed or care
for my fish. I've lost more that way then just leaving them on their own
for a few days.
