A Thanks, A. :-) Livebearer fry never cease to amaze me with their resourcefulness. I always heavily plant my community tanks, and I've had baby guppies and platies make it in large tanks with adult angelfish, big clown loaches, altispinosas, kribensis, and heaven only knows what other hungry fish. The survivors find fine leaved plants or frogbit roots at the surface and apparantly hang out eating algae and microorganism living on the plants until they're big enough to compete for fish food. The stocking level I suggested for these 10 gallon community tanks is dense but should be quite manageable. It's dense because I don't like keeping shoaling fish alone. However, a couple more platies could overstock the tank. -- __ Elaine T __ __' http://eethomp.com/fish.html '__ |
