Default Colour of goldfish

Maybe there is no answer to my question, but here goes............ I have
little goldfish that are black, and I know they change colour. Some change
when they are still very small, but I have one that is 4" long and is still
pure black. Will he stay black?

I have had them stay "almost," but not quite black. Those were sold before
they could reproduce. We finally switched to Shubunkins as we felt they
were prettier than the serassas and plain gold comets.

I have had them change color from less half an inch and some stay black/
dark grey up to almost 3" - they seem to march to their own drummer/ time
clock

I've seen some stay all black, which can be pretty cool if it is ink black.
They almost look like sharks when they come up to feed amongst the orange
ones. ~ jan
