I thought of that after I sent the message. I forgot that the old days
are gone, the days when Danios were zebra or giant and none had long
fins or strange colors.

I'm a fan of true colours myself.

Alright, a little update. Luckaly I made it to my fish store before it
closed. I bought a Specimen Container that hangs from the side of the
aquarium. its hanging inside, so the water temp doesn't become too
different. I also bought a small bottle of Melafix and gave it half a
capful (said 5ml per 10 gal so I figured smaller dose for that little
tank). He seems to be a bit more active, exploring his smaller world.
I'll keep you guys updated...and keeping an eye out for that Chinese
Algae Eater, I'm gonna have to remove him if he becomes much more
agressive to the others :/ (I seen he quickly sucks on my Corys if they
get close to his Waffer).

Seems I was too late...my Platy just died...Well I least I'll have the
medicine and smaller tank ready if it happens again. At least I hope it
doesn't happen again. To make things better I'll look around for
someplace I can give the Algae Eater to (I don't get much Algae anymore
anyway). Just wanted to thank you all for your help anyway. Really
appreciate it.

Thank you for responding, very helpful. Yea I do have male and female
Platy, and both Danios have Silvery Stripes. Well I cannot really pin
point a suspect as to who attacked who (but my Algae Eater is being
watched to see if it is repeated, though I hope not). Well my Male
Platy is still alive, though pretty scratched up. Is there anything I
can do for him or just leave him alone and see how he turns out?

Catch him and dab some Neosporin on the wound with a Q-tip. Provide him
with very clean water by changing some water daily or at least every
couple of days.

Can't say I've ever seen that recommendation before; typically
mercurichrome is suggested as the thing to use with this method.

I've had platys for years and never saw them show aggression towards
each other. Even the males get along. Someone else may have had a
different experience with them. I have the Mickey Mouse and the
Sunburst platys but now they've crossed so I have mutts. :-)

Virtually all platies are mutts.

I have had customers bring in both single female and male platies they
claim have been the holy terror of their tank, attacking and injuring much
larger and more robust fishes--it surprised me too. It certainly is not
typical behaviour, but fish can learn from positive and negative
reinforcement just like anything else. If there are positive consequences
for behaviour and no negative ones, a fish may learn to continue it... even
something as typically predictable as a livebearer.

Btw... In these situations it is almost always the case that the fish has
been kept without any other platies in the tank. It seems that in the
absence of their kin these fish will adapt their own behaviour patterns. I
have seen some tetras do the same thing in the absence of a school.
