Default Large white area on goldfish

Hi,

One of 4 goldfish in our outside pond has developed a fairly large white
patch (almost square in shape) on it's side.

Anyone know what it could be and what could have caused it?

The four fish have been doing great until now - they seem to be growing
very well.

There is currently no weed in the pond at all - due to my partner
throwing it out (it's winter time, and she thought it had died, so
biffed it). I don't think this is related to the problem though, but
thought I should mention it in case it is.

it be a coloration change?

I had gold fish for 4 years, and one of them changed it's color drasticly all the time.

From white and black, to gold, then all black to spotted.

Is sticking out like a tumor?

It could also be a desease, but i'd really have to see it before i could give a educated guess.

Also what kind of goldfish are they?

It may be either columnaris (flexibacter) or fungus. I would treat the
fish in a hospital aquarium (or sterile trash can with a sponge
filter) with Pimafix. I would also dip your fish for 30 minutes in a
double strengh solution of methylene blue 2.3%.
Watch for any other signs of problems in your pond, and check your
water parameters.

Here are two good resources for you:

could be some sorta bacterial infection
maye move it too a tank or bucket with airstone
the old triple sulphur is a bit of a standby here and can be very effective.
I find a bit of acriflavine helps out too

Triple sulphur?
Acriflavine?

I don't know what these things or methods are - sorry.

Triple sulfa is an Anti-Microbal, which is an older, but excellent
treatment.
Acriflavin is a Chemical treatment (which can be used in combination
with Triple Sulfa)
